Bulldog Of The Month Award Winners

September 2007 Honorees

Becky Hoffman - Women's Golf Senior Gaines, Mich./Swartz Creek Averaged 77.33 strokes per round (928 total strokes) in 12 rounds for the month. Registered five 10th-place tying or better finishes, which included a third-place 154-stroke total (76-8=154) at the Olivet Invitational (9/21-22). Played an integral role in leading the nationally third-ranked Bulldogs to four top three team showings, highlighted by first-place performances at the Ferris State Bulldog Invitational (9/1-2), Olivet Invitational (9/21-22), and Northwood Invitational (9/28/29). Team strokes leader in two tournaments – ninth-place 153 score at the Grand Valley State Laker Classic (9/3-4) and 26th-place tying 233 score at the Michigan State Mary Fossum Invitational (9/8-9).

Jared Kelsh - Men's Cross Country Senior Chippewa Lake, Mich./Chippewa Hills Registered four consecutive top-two individual performances in the Bulldogs' four men’s cross country outings during the month of September. He placed first overall in the 8K Northwood Open (Sept. 7) with a time of 26:10.38 in the non-scoring event. In addition, he led Ferris State to the collegiate division championship by winning the competitive 8K Loyola Lakefront Invitational (Sept. 29) with a season-best time of 25:41 in Chicago, Ill. Kelsh earned runner-up laurels in each of FSU's other two races during the month. His second-place finish in the squad's own Bulldog Invitational (Sept. 21) at Katke Golf Course helped the team to a runner-up overall finish. His winning effort at the Loyola Lakefront Invitational came in a field of 238 participants while 66 runners took part in the Northwood Open.
