BLOG 5: Congrats to Coach Mignano on an important golf signing
By Sandy Gholston
BIG RAPIDS – Ferris women’s golf coach Mike Mignano is planning to be an aggressive, progressive and successful leader.
So far, that has paid off for Mignano who already has enjoyed success with the current Ferris women’s team and is now setting the stage for more success down the line. Mignano, a young coach who is bringing a lot of energy to the program already, recently announced the signing of Flint native Ashley Swanson, who was a 2008 finalist for the Michigan High School Athletic Association Miss Golf Award. She also was named as a member of the 2008 All-State Girls Golf Super Team.
It’s a nice signing for the Bulldogs and Mignano pointed out as much in a press release issued by Ferris’ Athletics Communications Department.
“We’re extremely excited to have Ashley play for us next season,” said Mignano, a Ferris grad who us about is in the midst of his second season as head coach of the Bulldogs as he took over for Brad Bedortha. “Ashley is every coach’s dream recruit in that she works harder than anyone I have ever seen on her golf game and she loves winning.
