BLOG 4: FSU women’s golf team enjoys a strong fall campaign
By Sandy Gholston
BIG RAPIDS – After a pair of third-place finishes to open the season, the Ferris women’s golf team finished the fall portion of its schedule in strong fashion.
The Bulldogs took third in their own Ferris State Invitational (Aug. 30-31) and at the Grand Valley State Laker Classic (Sept. 1-2). Those were solid efforts to get started, but Ferris ended the fall on a hot note taking first-place honors in the Findlay William “Bing” Beall Classic (Sept. 28-29), the Siena Heights Invitational (Oct. 4) and the Detroit Titans Invitational (Oct. 6-7).
Alison Meyer was Ferris’ top finisher at Findlay as she tied for second overall and fired a two-round score of 149. At Siena Heights, Blaize Baumgartner earned medalist honors as she shot a one-round score of 84 for Ferris. At Detroit, Meghan Hunter tied for second overall as she shot back-to-back scores of 75 and 77 to finish at 152.
The Bulldogs are idle until spring when they travel to Perry Park, Ky., for the Northern Kentucky Invitational at a date yet to be determined.
