BLOG 40: Bulldogs add more size up front with Felicia Standley
By Sandy Gholston
BIG RAPIDS – It’s no big secret one of the needs Ferris had to address, during this off-season period, was its front line.
With three talented front-court players, all six feet or taller, Ferris has made a point of replenishing a front line gutted by graduations during the last two years of veteran post players. It’s an exciting time for the Bulldogs who, most recently, added 6-foot-2 Felicia Standley, who averaged 16.3 points and 9.3 rebounds during her senior year at Galesburg-Augusta High School.
Standley joins 6-foot-1 Katy Fox and 6-footer Leah Kebler, previous front-court signees for the Bulldogs as Ferris seeks to rebuild its post game.
Head coach Tracey Dorow sung the praises of Standley, who appears to have the makings to become a solid scorer in the low post at the college level.
As is the case with most recruits, it will be interesting to see how these post players come to Ferris and handle the physical and athletic nature of competing in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
The good news, for Ferris, is these post players come in with solid reputations, and should be ready to help the Bulldogs bounce back from a 13-15 2008-09 campaign on the hardwood.
