BIG RAPIDS – Ferris will have to do its scoring by committee this season to achieve success on the hardwood.
Without Rachel Folcik to account for her 20-or-so points a contest, the Bulldogs are going to have to rely on more of a scoring-by-committee approach to putting those points on the scoreboard. One of the major positives for Ferris this season will be a backcourt that features returning starters Becci Houdek, at the point, and team captain Teghan Thelen, at the two-guard spot. Houdek could be ready to elevate her scoring productivity with a year of experience under her belt while Thelen has emerged during the last year or so as a capable scoring threat.
Caitlin Hutchison, a senior, will be called to chip in some scoring from the wing. In the paint, 6-foot-1 posts Ashley Fleming and Jenna Guay bring the experience. Both may need to contribute consistent offense to provide some inside scoring punch. Another factor for the Bulldogs in the post could be 6-foot-2 Andrea Clancy.
One of the freshmen, or transfer guard Chelsea (Ciba) Simonetti, could be among the newcomers who could emerge to contribute to the scoring.
