BIG RAPIDS – Ferris has had a tough time in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference standings throughout the season.
Last week was a roller-coaster ride for the Bulldogs as it started with a 78-63 loss at home to rival Grand Valley State (a squad that has fast become one of the league’s best, in spite of being young). Thursday, Ferris bounced back and won a tough 83-82 game against Tiffin. Against the Dragons, Ferris trailed 82-78 with 41 seconds to go. That was when Becci Houdek took over. The talented guard drilled a 3-pointer with 24 seconds to go and another short jumper, with eight seconds left, to propel the team to a one-point win.
Saturday, Ferris struggled at times in an 84-62 loss to a very good Ashland squad with a lot of talented offensive weapons. The Eagles were red hot from outside of the 3-point line with their shooting as they pushed the ball up the court to create scoring chances for themselves from inside and outside the arc.
Ferris had hoped to walk away with more than one win this week considering the three games were in Jim Wink Arena.
