Midland Dow's Leah Kebler has inked with the Bulldogs

BIG RAPIDS – As coaches are quick to point out, recruiting is an ongoing process for Ferris State University women’s basketball head coach Tracey Dorow and every other college coach.

Ferris believes it has added a quality player with the addition of Midland Dow High School’s Leah Kebler, a 6-foot frontcourt player who committed to the Bulldogs during the early-signing period. Kebler, who is preparing for senior season, averaged 13 points and six rebounds last season for a Dow squad that finished 19-4. Kebler plays for a strong prep girls basketball program in an area with a lot of talented athletes and basketball players. Even against that competition, Kebler was still able to stand out.

The Bulldogs are losing several key post players including 6-1 Jenna Guay and 6-1 Ashley Fleming. Thus, the Bulldogs need to strengthen its frontcourt and may have done so with the addition of Kebler, a player the Bulldogs have had their eyes on for a while.

“Leah has been at the top of our recruiting list since we lost Rachel Folcik to graduation,” Ferris head coach Tracey Dorow said. “She’s been well-coached and has played with and against high-caliber athletes, which should make her transition to the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference much more smooth than most post players entering the collegiate ranks. With the graduation of seniors Jenna Guay and Ashley Fleming at the conclusion of this season, Leah will have an opportunity to make an immediate impact for us.”
