BIG RAPIDS – While it was a tough season for the Ferris State University volleyball team, in many ways, the future could be fairly bright for the spikers.
The Bulldogs had three players named to the 2008 All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Volleyball teams. Senior setter/outside hitter Andrea Rich, who wrapped up her strong college volleyball career at Ferris, earned All-GLIAC First-Team honors for her efforts on the court. Rich has been a solid player throughout her career and ended with her head held high. Sophomore Arielle Goodson, a 6-foot-2 middle hitter with a wealth of potential, earned second-team all-league honors while the steady 6-foot junior Kristy Gilchrist, who could be one of the team’s leaders in 2009, made the honorable mention all-conference team.
The good news for the Bulldogs are that Gilchrist and Goodson still have eligibility remaining to come back next year and build on the groundwork for future success that has been established.
Ferris finished with a 16-13 record during the fall 2008 campaign and ended up 8-8 in the GLIAC North Division standings.
