BIG RAPIDS – Ferris State University took an opportunity, during the Bulldogs Friday evening home match against archrival and fifth-ranked Grand Valley State University, to recognize former player Lindsay Tye.
The 5-foot-10 Tye earned 2007 American Volleyball Coaches Association NCAA Division II Women’s Volleyball All-America Second Team honors. She was one of 12 players to earn second-team honors as part of the 27th annual AVCA All-American Division II teams for women’s volleyball. It was a nice series of honors for the hard-working Tye who put in the time to hone her skills from the day she stepped foot on campus, as a freshman, until she closed her career last fall after a strong senior campaign.
In addition to being named an All-American, Tye also was a first-team 2007 NCAA Division II Great Lakes Region First-Team pick and a first-team All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference selection. The hard-hitting lefty accomplished that thanks to a career single-season best 488 kills on a .296 hitting percentage. She ranked second on the team with 40 service aces and 281 digs.
In addition to her hard work and dedication on the court, Tye got the job done in the classroom too as she was a 2007 GLIAC All-Academic Team pick.
