BIG RAPIDS – Ferris has won eight of its last nine matches as it returns to Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference competition this (Oct. 24) Friday against rival and nationally-ranked Grand Valley State at home beginning at 7 p.m. in Ewigleben Sports Arena.
The match against the Lakers begins a three-match homestand for the Bulldogs who now are clearly in the stretch run of the regular season. After playing the Lakers of GVSU, the Bulldogs host the Lakers of Lake Superior State (Oct. 31) and then welcome Saginaw Valley State on Nov. 1. Ferris closes the regular season with a road trip to the Upper Peninsula to face Northern Michigan (Nov. 7), in Marquette, and Michigan Tech (Nov. 8), in Houghton.
The Bulldogs have lost a couple of hard-fought matches at home and would love nothing more than to protect its home floor against what will be a formidable-as-always GVSU team. At 15-8 overall and 7-4 in the GLIAC, the Bulldogs have reversed what was a tough stretch of matches during which the team at one point had lost six of seven.
Ferris is entering this match off a four-set loss to No. 17 Lewis during its final match of the GLVC/GLIAC Crossover Volleyball Tournament in Indianapolis. The Bulldogs compiled a 2-1 record as part of that unique event won by the GLIAC.
