BIG RAPIDS – Ferris head football coach Jeff Pierce is hopeful the experience of recent years, gained by the offensive line, will pay off even more this season.

The Bulldogs return some solid components off a good offensive line, and Pierce is hopeful that experience will help that unit to take the next step toward great things. The offensive line, as is the case with any team, will play a major role in the offensive unit establishing an even higher level of dominance on that side of the ball this fall.

“The experience we gained last year with the group that we have will benefit us in the spring and will be something we take into the fall,” Pierce said. “The size and athletic ability we have up front with that group will allow us to do some positive things in the upcoming season.”

Ferris had some experienced guys like Joe Doman, Brad Bammert, Matt Wellman and Scott Shattuck – among others – who gained valuable experience in 2008. If Ferris truly wants to run the ball (with power) a little more, in the upcoming season, the big guys on that O-line will play a major role in turning that hope into a reality.
