BIG RAPIDS – During Ferris’ Saturday morning scrimmage (April 18), one thing became evident: the Bulldogs have some playmakers in the making.

David Freeman, a player who came to Ferris as a quarterback but can play just about any skill position, looked particularly impressive at times on Saturday. Freeman, a 5-foot-9 speedster from Westland, put on display the kind of playmaking ability and breakaway speed that oftentimes makes coaches drool all over themselves.

“D.J. Freeman has really stepped in and taken his game to a new level during this spring,” head coach Jeff Pierce said after his team wrapped up its second scrimmage of the spring. “We’ve got D.J., but we’ve also got a few other guys who are stepping up and showing some potential to be able to make some big plays for us next season. We have a couple of other guys who are in the mix to be that kind of a player, too.”

The Bulldogs still have Tim Hogue who remains in the mix. Last season, the man who wears the coveted No. 1 jersey for Ferris, was the big playmaker. Another guy to keep an eye on, who could be a major factor next season for the Bulldogs’ offense, is freshman running back Arshaun Hall, a native of Novi. Hall has had a nice spring season.
