BIG RAPIDS – It’s not going to be a finished product by the end of the spring, but Ferris hopes to have everything on the right track when it breaks at the end of the semester and looks ahead to the fall when the team comes back together for training camp.

“Things are going really well right now and I am really happy with what I am seeing as the guys are out there competing hard,” Ferris head coach Jeff Pierce said following the scrimmage – the final one before the Crimson and Gold Spring Game this Friday. “We have a lot of guys who are out there making gains and putting themselves in a position to move up our depth chart with the way they’re competing (going into the last week of the spring).”

While the spring football season winds down for the program, coaches still have work that needs to be done evaluating players. A lot of positions are up for grabs and the depth charts are fairly fluid with a lot of movement.

“We’re getting an opportunity to see a lot of guys get out there and play and that is helping us as coaches to make the evaluations we’re going to need to make,” Pierce said as he and his staff will get to work on that evaluation, take care of the loose ends with recruiting (there still could be a hidden gem or two out there) and look ahead to the fall.

Here’s how the schedule is looking for the final week of spring practice. The Bulldogs practice on Tuesday (April 21) and conducts its final practice on Thursday (April 23).

From there, the team wraps up the spring season when it hosts the annual Crimson and Gold Spring Game beginning at 6 p.m. from Top Taggart Field.
