BIG RAPIDS – Ferris will be seeded third in this highly-anticipated 2009 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Softball Tournament (May 1-3).

This spring’s tournament will be played at Northwood University in Midland and should prove to be as competitive as ever – from start to finish. Normally, the tournament is held at Emerson Park, but heavy rains and flooding forced the GLIAC to move the event to nearby Northwood.

Ferris (32-6) opens the double-elimination tournament with a 10 a.m. matchup on Friday against Northwood (17-22). Ashland is the No. 1 seed and hosts No. 8 Findlay at noon. Saginaw Valley is the No. 2 seed and challenges Tiffin, the No. 7 seed, at 10 a.m. In the fourth opening-round game, No. 4 Wayne State faces No. 5 Grand Valley.

The winner between the Bulldogs and Timberwolves advances to face the winner between Saginaw Valley and Tiffin.

This event, a gathering of the top softball teams in the GLIAC, is without a doubt one of my favorite events of the year.

All 2009 GLIAC tournament softball games will feature live statistics and can be accessed online at:
