BIG RAPIDS – One was a great addition to the team this year and the other has been part of the backbone of Ferris State University’s maturing women’s soccer program for much of her career.

Sophomore goalkeeper Becci Houdek, a member of the Ferris women’s basketball team who became a dual-sport athlete when she joined the soccer team this fall, joined teammate and senior defender Jackie Back on the 2008 All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Second Team. Houdek, with her size, athleticism and skill has been a great addition in goal for the Bulldogs while Back remains a hard-working warrior who does a lot of the on-field work that helps solidify the team.

Houdek and Back are just two of the reasons that this Ferris women’s soccer program is one that is on the rise in the GLIAC and the region under the leadership of head coach Neathan Gibson.

For more information on the All-GLIAC honors earned by Back, Houdek and others, visit http://www.ferris.edu/sports/soccer/08news/08gliacawards.htm.

As a team this fall, the Bulldogs are 9-9-1 and finished 7-6-1 in the GLIAC. Ferris was eliminated from the GLIAC Tournament by the top-ranked Grand Valley State in a 3-0 loss in Allendale on Friday.
