BLOG 5: Ferris men’s team will go dancing in the NCAA tourney
By Sandy Gholston
BIG RAPIDS – The Ferris men’s golf team has its sights set on playing in the NCAA Division II Midwest/South Central Regional.
The Bulldogs, ranked 25th in the nation, are seeded second among 10 teams in the Midwest Region. Ferris, and the other 10 Midwest Region teams to qualify, blend together with 10 other South Central Region teams for 54 holes of golf (May 4-6) at Grand Valley’s The Meadows Golf Club in Allendale.
The good news for the Bulldogs is they will be familiar with The Meadows (having played there often). Hopefully, Ferris will be able to put together a couple of strong early rounds to get off to a good start against what will be solid competition.
The four super regionals are comprised of the eight regions recognized by the NCAA. The top five teams and top two individuals not with a team from each regional (regardless of region) advance to the 2009 NCAA-II Men's Golf Championships on May 19-22 at the Loomis Trail Golf Club in Blaine, Wash.
