BIG RAPIDS – After a dominating victory over Lake Superior last Thursday, Ferris made a late rally, but fell short Saturday afternoon game at Saginaw Valley.

The Bulldogs earned an 86-59 victory over the host Lakers in Sault Ste. Marie before traveling back down state to fall in a close one to the Cardinals, 93-84.

Ferris made a late charge as sophomore point guard Darien Gay got a hot touch from outside the 3-point arc and nearly willed his team to a come-from-behind win over Saginaw Valley. But, it was not meant to be on Saturday. Still, Gay finished with 18 points on 4-of-8 shooting from outside the 3-point arc.

In addition to Gay, junior shooting guard Josh Young added 16 points, sophomore center Justin Keenan finished with 14, and junior Matt DeHart added 10 for the Bulldogs (5-7 overall and 3-4 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference).

Unfortunately, the Bulldogs could not hold Dante Williams who finished with 27 points while Avery Stephenson totaled 20 in check. In addition, Adam Gries added 17 points.

As a team, the Cardinals hit 57 percent of their shots from the field, and that will have to improve for the Bulldogs as they prepare to host rival Grand Valley on Monday in Big Rapids at 8 p.m.
