BIG RAPIDS – Ferris State University and Big Rapids High School share the same home-ice facility – FSU’s Ewigleben Ice Arena.

This year, the Bulldogs and Cardinals plan to share an opportunity to introduce themselves to fans in Big Rapids and the area in general. The Ferris Blueline Club is teaming with Independent Bank of Big Rapids to host “Faceoff,” an event to set the stage for a full slate of college and high school hockey action this winter. The scheduled two-hour event takes place at Falcon Head Golf Course in Big Rapids, Oct. 3.

The event is $15 for adults and $8 for children under the age of 12. There will be a pasta bar dinner and beverages served.

Bulldog head coach Bob Daniels and Cardinal Hockey Coach Tim Blashill will speak along with selected student-athletes from Ferris’ squad. Nick Scheible, a Ferris graduate and former standout hockey player for the Bulldogs and the Cardinals will serve as master of ceremonies for the event. Considering Scheible’s unique history with both programs and the city of Big Rapids, no one is better qualified to be the master of ceremonies.

“This (event) provides a unique opportunity to meet and interact with the 2008-09 Ferris State hockey team,” said Daniels, who also has a team captain (Cody Chupp) who prepped for the Cardinals and now plays for the Bulldogs. “Those who attend will also have a chance to meet our incoming freshmen and hear from a number of our returning players.”
