BIG RAPIDS – Maybe Ferris State University’s hockey team ought to think about treating all games from here on out as road games.

Something magical seems to be happening on the ice for the Bulldogs in road venues as proven once again by Ferris over the weekend in Marquette against Northern Michigan University. The Bulldogs turned in yet another outstanding Central Collegiate Hockey Association weekend with two victories (and four league points) against the Wildcats at Berry Events Center. Ferris won 6-4 on Friday and completed the sweep on Saturday with a 2-1 victory.

It was a little bit of everything during the weekend set as Ferris proved it can win a high-scoring affair and grind out a close, low-goal-scoring win.

Ferris utilized both of its top goaltenders as freshman Taylor Nelson guarded the space between the pipes on Friday while sophomore Pat Nagle was back in front of the net for the Saturday night contest. Nelson saved 23 shots in the challenging win while Nagle was superb as he turned back 33 shots from a desperate and aggressive-playing Northern squad hungry to avoid the sweep.

Ferris is now 7-6-3 overall and 6-4-2-0 in the CCHA standing. In terms of points, Ferris is now in a three-way tie for third place with 14 points (Alaska and Ohio State). Miami is in first with 19 points while Notre Dame is second with 16.
