BIG RAPIDS – Ferris and Lake Superior are two teams eager to hit their stride this weekend in an early Central Collegiate Hockey Association series in Ewigleben Ice Arena.
The visiting Lakers are 1-2-1 overall and 1-1 in the CCHA standings. Lake State tied Minnesota Duluth 2-2 (Oct. 10), fell 3-2 to Upper Peninsula rival Michigan Tech (Oct. 11) and split a road CCHA series (Oct. 17-18) with Ohio State winning 7-3 before losing 4-2. On the opposite side, the Bulldogs are 2-2-2 overall and 1-0-1 in the CCHA standings after a 1-1 tie (with a shootout loss) against Western Michigan (Oct. 24), in Kalamazoo, preceded a 5-2 win, in Big Rapids, on Oct. 25 in Ewigleben.
While the Bulldogs were facing the Broncos, the Lakers used last weekend to play two exhibitions as they scored a 7-0 win over Windsor (Oct. 25) and a 7-3 victory over the U.S. Under-18 team (Oct. 26).
The Bulldogs and Lakers faceoff this (Friday) evening at 7:05 p.m. and wrap up the series Saturday with the puck scheduled to drop at 5:05 p.m.
FSU head coach Bob Daniels has a lot of respect for Lake Superior’s team and expects another hard-fought series between two teams that look evenly matched. With a number of the CCHA teams appearing so competitively even, each and every series holds even greater significance.
