BLOG 32: Kirinovic named to NCAA Division II National Football Committee

By Sandy Gholston

BIG RAPIDS – Ferris State University Athletics Director Tom Kirinovic is stepping onto Division II college football’s national stage in a prominent role.

Kirinovic will serve on a committee that oversees NCAA Division II football issues thanks to his recent appointment to the NCAA Division II National Football Committee. He is coming in as a replacement for Butch Raymond from the newly-renamed Super Regional Three this fall.

The long-time Ferris A.D. is deserving of this responsibility having served 25 years as a member of the athletics staff of Ferris State University in a variety of capacities. Previously, Kirinovic has served the NCAA in various regional and national capacities, including: NCAA Student-Athlete Reinstatement Committee work, being a member of the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Regional Basketball Ranking Committee and as Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference President (2005-06).

“It is an extreme honor to be able to represent Ferris State University and the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference on this prestigious national football committee,” said Kirinovic, who also was saluted by GLIAC Commissioner Tom Brown in a University press release. “The high level of play in our region makes it very exciting to be able to help determine who the best teams are not only in this region but across the country.

“I appreciate the support of our staff to allow me to serve the NCAA in this manner.”

I’m sure the GLIAC realizes how strong and capable an ambassador Kirinovic will be for the University, the region and the league – on a national level.
