FSU's Lucy DeMartin Named GLIAC North Division Player of the Week

Ferris State University women's basketball junior guard Lucy DeMartin (Mason) has been selected this week's Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) North Division Player of the Week for her performance in helping FSU improve to 3-0 overall last week.
The 5-9 DeMartin tied a personal career-best with a game-high 30 points and nailed the winning three-point basket with nine seconds remaining to lift Ferris to an 85-84 win last Wednesday (Nov. 27) at NCAA Division I Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne in Fort Wayne, Ind. She added 21 points in last Saturday's (Nov. 30) 72-57 win over Findlay at FSU's Jim Wink Arena in Big Rapids, Mich. In addition to scoring 51 total points and averaging 25.5 points per game in the two victories, DeMartin also had 12 assists, nine rebounds and four steals while sinking eight-of-eight free throw attempts.
A 2001-02 Verizon Academic All-District IV Second-Team honoree, DeMartin presently has 697 career points and is three points shy of notching her 700th career point. She needs 25 points to move into a tie for 20th place with Amy Pickard (722; 1996-00) on the school's career scoring list.
DeMartin, who currently ranks second (.833; 170-204) on the school's career free throw percentage chart, recorded the program's fifth-best single-season free throw percentage mark (.853; 93-109) and sixth-best made free throw total (93) in 2001-02. She ranks seventh (.348; 39-112) among Ferris' career three-point field goal percentage leaders to date and is three treys short of tying Jill Thayer (42; 1994-98) for 13th place on the school's career made three-point field goal chart.
The 2001-02 GLIAC All-Academic Team pick presently ranks as FSU's leading scorer (22.7 ppg) this campaign. She has scored 10 points or more in eight consecutive games dating back to last season and is 23 rebounds shy of attaining her 200th career board.
