FERRIS STATE'S KRISTIN REINHART GARNERS GLIAC HONOR

Sophomore Guard Chosen As League's North Division Player Of The Week

Sophomore guard Kristin Reinhart (East Lansing) of the 2004-05 Ferris State University women's basketball team has been selected this week's (Dec. 6) Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) North Division Player of the Week for her performance in the Bulldogs' two outings last week. She is the first FSU women's player to attain league weekly award accolades this season.

The 5-5 Reinhart led Ferris State to a league split as she registered 45 points, 13 assists, 10 rebounds and two steals in the two outings. Reinhart, who averaged 22.5 points and 6.5 assists during the stretch, netted both a personal career-high and game-high 24 points along with eight rebounds and five assists in Thursday's (Dec. 2) 74-61 conference-opening win over Findlay at FSU's Jim Wink Arena in Big Rapids, Mich. She then totaled a team-best 21 points and eight assists in Saturday's (Dec. 4) 76-64 GLIAC home setback to Ashland.

Reinhart, who compiled her 300th career point against Findlay, is presently averaging a team-high 19.0 points per game this campaign. She ranks second among the GLIAC’s latest (Dec. 6) overall statistical leaders in assists (6.00 apg) and third in scoring (19.0 ppg) while playing a league-high 39 minutes per game to date this season.

Reinhart garnered team Rookie of the Year Award accolades in 2003-04 after recording 265 points, 106 rebounds and 73 assists in her initial campaign. She scored 10 points or more in 13 outings, including six of her final eight appearances last season. Reinhart ranked third in assists (2.4 apg), third in made three-point field goals (21) and fourth in scoring (8.5 ppg) among FSU’s 2003-04 leaders.

Ferris State, which is presently 1-3 overall and 1-1 in GLIAC action this campaign, will visit defending conference champion Lake Superior State Thursday, Dec. 9, for a 5:30 p.m. (EST) league tilt in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. FSU will then square off against Saginaw Valley State Saturday, Dec. 11, at University Center, Mich. Tipoff for the GLIAC encounter is set for 1 p.m. (EST).
