Ida High School Product Is Latest Addition To Bulldog Recruiting Class
The Ferris State University women’s basketball program has signed guard/forward Hailey Potter (Temperance/Ida) to a national letter-of-intent to attend and play women’s basketball at FSU, starting in the 2003-04 academic year. The announcement was made by sixth-year FSU head coach Tracey Fisk.

The 5-9 Potter tallied 11 points, 3.0 steals and 2.6 rebounds per game while leading Ida High School to a 22-2 overall record and a Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) Class B district final appearance as a senior during the 2002 campaign. The 2002 Detroit Free Press Class B Honorable Mention All-State selection was a two-time (2001-02) all-region honoree and garnered first-team All-Lenawee County Athletic Association accolades this campaign.
“Hailey is a versatile player, who’s strong enough to battle down low and capable of hitting the outside shot,” Fisk said. “She also has the ability to penetrate and score.
“Her team attitude is great and she was an instant fit to our program,” added Fisk.
A four-year letterwinner, Potter twice (2001-02) received team Most Valuable Player Award kudos. The 2002 team co-captain guided the Bluestreaks to a 20-2 mark while averaging 14.7 points per game as a junior (2001) under head coach Tim Leonard. Potter was a two-time (2001-02) Monroe County Dream Team pick and also attained 2001 Monroe County Player of the Year Runner-up honors. Besides basketball, Potter competed in volleyball for two years and was active in the school’s Spanish Club.
“She’ll be a solid contributor in our program,” said Fisk. “Hailey isn’t a flashy player, but she does the little things that help a team succeed. She wanted to play at Ferris State and is excited about becoming a Bulldog.”
The daughter of Terry and Robin Potter, Hailey plans to major in elementary education at Ferris State. She joins guard Kristin Reinhart (East Lansing) as FSU’s 2003-04 women’s basketball recruits to date.
Ferris State, which finished the year 15-11 overall and 10-8 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) action, reached the GLIAC Tournament for the fourth consecutive year and posted its seventh straight 10-win campaign during the 2002-03 season.
