ERIN MILLER EARNS GLIAC NORTH DIVISION WEEKLY AWARD

Sophomore Guard Named Player Of The Week Following Road Split

Ferris State University sophomore guard Erin Miller (Niles) has been selected this week's (Feb. 9) Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) North Division Player of the Week for the second time this campaign following Ferris' two-game league split in Michigan's Upper Peninsula last weekend (Feb. 5-8).

Miller averaged 25.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists in the two contests. The 5-7 Miller tallied 16 points, six rebounds and five assists as FSU defeated Michigan Tech 75-65 for its first win in Houghton since 1987 last Thursday (Feb. 5). She then recorded a personal career-high 35 points and 11 rebounds along with six three-pointers in the Bulldogs' 78-71 loss Sunday (Feb. 8) at Northern Michigan. Miller was 19-of-38 (.500) from the floor and eight-of-14 (.571) from three-point range in the two outings.

The 2002-03 FSU Rookie of the Year Award winner presently has reached double-figure scoring in 19 of her 21 contests this campaign and ranks as the Bulldogs' leading scorer (16.9 ppg) to date. She scored her 600th career point versus Northwood (Jan. 29).

Miller was the recipient of the GLIAC’s 2002-03 Freshman of the Year Award after ranking as the team’s third-leading scorer (12.5 ppg). She posted 17 double-figure scoring performances last season and concluded the year ranked second among Ferris' assists leaders (3.2 apg). Miller scored 10 points or more in eight of her last 11 outings and compiled four 20-plus point contests while starting all 26 games during the 2002-03 campaign.

Earlier this season (Jan. 5), Miller attained GLIAC North Division Player of the Week kudos for the first time after compiling three 20-plus point performances in four games over the holiday break.

The Bulldogs, who are presently 15-6 overall and hold a first-place tying 10-2 mark in the GLIAC's North Division, will host Saginaw Valley State Thursday (Feb. 12) with tipoff set for 6 p.m. (EST) at FSU's Jim Wink Arena in Big Rapids, Mich.
