FERRIS' JENNA GUAY PICKS UP CONFERENCE WEEKLY RECOGNITION
Junior Forward/Center Earns Division Honor After Career-Best Performance
Junior forward/center Jenna Guay (Escanaba) of the Ferris State University women's basketball squad has been named this season's (2007-08) first recipient of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) North Division Player of the Week honor as announced by the league office.
Guay helped the Bulldogs to a runner-up finish in the season-opening Quincy (Ill.) Subway Tipoff Tourney held this past weekend (Nov. 16-17) in QU's Pepsi Arena at Quincy, Ill. The 6-1 Guay netted a personal career-high 21 points and grabbed five rebounds in FSU's 93-71 loss to preseason nationally fifth-ranked Delta State (Miss.) in Saturday's (Nov. 17) tournament championship game. She also posted 12 points and grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds in the Bulldogs' 87-82 opening game win Friday (Nov. 16) over the host Hawks.

Guay, who was FSU's lone player named to the all-tournament team, converted 13-of-19 (.684) field goal attempts and seven-of-10 (.700) free throws in the two outings. She averaged 16.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game in the event. Additionally, she added five assists, two blocked shots and a steal while starting both contests.
Last season (2006-07), Guay recorded 91 points and 77 rebounds while seeing action in all 32 games as the Bulldogs had one of their most memorable seasons in school history by advancing to the NCAA Division II Sweet Sixteen. She averaged 2.8 points and 2.4 rebounds per contest in the Bulldogs' 23-9 campaign highlighted by back-to-back NCAA Tournament wins over Northern Kentucky and Gannon.
To date, Guay has netted 214 points along with 169 rebounds in 58 career contests at Ferris State.
The Bulldog women's team will host the GLIAC/Great Lakes Valley Conference Challenge Friday and Saturday, Nov. 23-24, at FSU's Jim Wink Arena in Big Rapids, Mich. FSU takes on Southern Illinois-Edwardsville in Friday's (Nov. 23) home opener before squaring off against Kentucky Wesleyan Saturday (Nov. 24). Both games begin at 6 p.m. (EST) and tickets will be available at the door one hour prior to tipoff.
