Junior forward Terrance Shaw claimed this week's GLIAC North Division honor
The Ferris State University men's basketball program has claimed the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) North Division Player of the Week Award for the third time this season as junior forward Terrance Shaw (Saginaw/Bridgeport) was recognized as this week's (Dec. 12) selection in an announcement made by the league office.

The honor, which has been awarded only four times to date this campaign, previously went twice to current FSU senior guard Dennis Springs (Toledo, Ohio/Scott) on both Nov. 22 and Dec. 5.

Shaw led the Bulldogs in two games last week as he averaged 13 points, 8.5 rebounds, two steals and one blocked shot while shooting 50% (10-20) from the floor and 42.9% (3-7) from three-point range in the stretch.

He netted a game-high 15 points along with seven rebounds in Ferris' 67-55 non-league setback at NCAA Division I Toledo (Ohio) last Saturday (Dec. 10) night in Toledo, Ohio. Shaw also totaled 11 points, 10 rebounds, three steals and three assists in the Bulldogs' 79-63 league home triumph over Grand Valley State last Thursday (Dec. 8) before a record crowd of 1,710 fans in FSU's Jim Wink Arena at Big Rapids, Mich.

Shaw presently ranks as both Ferris' second-leading scorer (12.6 ppg) and rebounder (7.0 rpg) this campaign. He has reached double-figure scoring in five of FSU's eight outings to date this season. He currently is listed fifth in three-point field goal percentage (.476) and ninth in rebounding (7.0 rpg) among the GLIAC's overall leaders for all games played this year.

Last season (2004-05), Shaw posted personal career-highs in both scoring (8.1 ppg) and rebounding (4.5 rpg) as the Bulldogs claimed their second-straight GLIAC North Division Championship and advanced to the NCAA-II Sweet Sixteen. He started 29 of Ferris' 31 outings last year while scoring 10 points or more nine times.

Ferris State, which is currently 5-3 overall this campaign, has won five of its last six outings to date. The Bulldogs, who presently hold a first-place 3-0 mark in the GLIAC North Division, will visit Lake Superior State Friday, Dec. 16, for a 7:30 p.m. (EST) league tilt in LSSU's Bud Cooper Gymnasium at Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.
