Senior guard Antwuan Holt (Okemos) of the 2005-06 Ferris State University men's basketball team became the third different Bulldog player to receive Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) North Division Player of the Week Award laurels this campaign as he was recognized this week (Jan. 9) by the league office.

FSU has received the weekly honor four of the six times it has been awarded this season as current senior guard Dennis Springs (Toledo, Ohio/Scott) earned recognition on both Nov. 22 and Dec. 5 while junior forward Terrance Shaw (Saginaw/Bridgeport) claimed the distinction once (Dec. 12) for FSU.

Holt tallied a game-high 24 points as Ferris State remained unbeaten in GLIAC play with an 83-78 road triumph last Saturday (Jan. 7) over Hillsdale in HC's Jesse Philips Arena in Hillsdale, Mich. He sank six-of-nine attempts from beyond the three-point arc in the victory and shot 58.3% (7-12) from the floor in the outing while adding three rebounds, two assists and a steal. His 24 points surpassed his previous FSU career-high of 21 points set earlier this season (12/1) against Northwood.

Holt, who has started all 14 outings this season, currently ranks as the squad's third-leading scorer (11.2 ppg) to date this campaign. He also is presently listed second among FSU's overall leaders in made three-point field goals (32) and assists (40) this year. Holt needs 23 points to garner his 400th career point in a Bulldog uniform. The Bulldogs, who improved to 8-6 overall and 5-0 in the GLIAC with the win, are the only team still unbeaten in league play following weekend action.

Last season (2004-05), Holt claimed team Most Improved Player Award honors as Ferris State won its second consecutive GLIAC North Division Championship and advanced to the NCAA-II Sweet Sixteen. Holt registered 220 points and dished out 87 assists in 30 appearances last campaign. The 6-3 Holt, who spent his initial two seasons of collegiate eligibility from 2002-04 at GLIAC member Northern Michigan, posted nine double-figure scoring outings including each of the squad's final four games last season.

Ferris State will begin a four-game league homestand as Holt squares off against his former Northern Michigan teammates Thursday, Jan. 12, in FSU's Jim Wink Arena at Big Rapids, Mich. Tipoff is at 8 p.m. (EST). Individual game tickets to FSU regular-season home basketball games can be obtained at the door or by calling the Bulldog Athletics Ticket Office at (231) 591-2888.
