Northern Michigan was selected as the North Division favorite as the Wildcats recorded 35 points along with five first-place votes. Findlay took the top spot in the South Division with 25 points and five first-place votes.
The league's 13 head coaches voted for the division in which they play, but were not allowed to vote for their own team. The first-place team in the North Division ballot received six points while the second-place team received five points, etc. In the South Division, the first-place team was granted five points while the second-place team took four points, etc.
Ferris, which returns four starters and seven letterwinners from a year ago, posted an 11-15 overall record and a fourth-place 7-11 GLIAC finish during the 2002-03 campaign. The Bulldogs' overall record and league finish were their best since compiling a 21-12 mark and a fourth-place 10-8 league ledger during the 1997-98 season.
FSU will open its 76th season of varsity competition this Saturday (Nov. 15) at Lewis (Ill.) in Romeoville, Ill. Tipoff for the non-league encounter in LU's Neil Carey Arena is set for 8:30 p.m. (EST).
