April 9: Two Finalists Withdraw Names From Consideration
The Ferris State University Athletics Department announced today that two of the seven finalists for the head coaching position of the men's basketball program have withdrawn their names from consideration.
Rob Flaska, who was a four-year assistant coach at Texas Christian University under former head coach Billy Tubbs, accepted a similar position at the University of Arkansas as a member of newly-appointed head coach Stan Heath's coaching staff on Friday, April 5.
Current Lake Superior State University head coach Marty McDermott notified FSU Athletics Director Tom Kirinovic of his decision to withdraw from the process last night (April 8).
The remaining interview dates and respective candidates are as follows:
April 12 - Joe Pechota (Assistant Coach - Indiana University-Purdue University at Fort Wayne) pronounced Pa-chote-tah
April 15 - Ric Wesley (Assistant Coach - Southwest Missouri State University)
April 17 - Linc Darner (Assistant Coach - Ashland University)
April 19 - Bill Sall (Assistant Coach - Hillsdale College)
A public forum, which allows the public an opportunity to meet with each candidate, will be held from 1-1:45 p.m.(EDT) during each candidate's interview session and will be conducted in the classroom at the R.L. Ewigleben (pronounced A-VAH-glave-in) Sports Complex on the FSU campus.
