Senior forward Terrance Shaw and the Ferris State Bulldogs were picked to finish second in this year's GLIAC Preseason Poll
The Bulldogs totaled 27 points but had no first-place votes in the balloting, which was conducted by the conference's head coaches. A year ago, Ferris State took third place in the conference's preseason coaches poll with 28 points and one top vote.

Defending GLIAC North Division Champion Grand Valley State was selected as this year's divisional favorite as the Lakers recorded 36 points along with six of a possible seven first-place votes. Findlay took the top spot in the South Division with 25 points and five first-place votes.

The league's 13 head coaches voted for the division in which they play, but were not allowed to vote for their own team. The first-place team in the North Division ballot received six points while the second-place team received five points, etc. In the South Division, the first-place team was granted five points while the second-place team took four points, etc.

Ferris State posted an 18-13 overall mark en route to making its second consecutive NCAA-II Great Lakes Regional Tournament berth during the 2005-06 campaign. FSU posted a second-place 13-5 mark in GLIAC North Division regular-season action last year after claiming back-to-back league crowns in 2003-04 and 2004-05. Ferris also received GLIAC Tournament runner-up accolades last season, falling to Grand Valley State 80-58 in the GLIAC Tournament Championship game (3/4/06) at Allendale, Mich.

Fifth-year FSU head coach Bill Sall returns three starters and six letterwinners this season, including a second-team All-GLIAC North Division honoree in senior forward Terrance Shaw (Saginaw/Bridgeport).

The Bulldogs dropped a 97-71 exhibition contest to NCAA Division I Toledo (Ohio) Tuesday (Nov. 7) evening in UT's Savage Hall at Toledo, Ohio. Ferris State concludes exhibition play with a visit to the University of Detroit Mercy this Friday, Nov. 10. Tipoff against the NCAA-I Titans is set for 7:35 p.m. (EST) in Calihan Hall at Detroit, Mich.

Ferris' official season opener is Friday, Nov. 17, against host Northern Kentucky in the annual John L. Griffin/Lions Club Classic at Highland Heights, Ky. Tipoff is set for 7:45 p.m. (EST).
