THE PRICE IS RIGHT FOR FERRIS STATE VOLLEYBALL PLAYER

Junior Libero Brittny Godlewski To Appear On Popular Television Game Show

Junior libero Brittny Godlewski (St. Clair Township/Marysville) of the 2004 Ferris State University women's volleyball team will appear on national television in the near future thanks to Thursday (Sept. 2) afternoon's taping of the popular television game show "The Price Is Right" in Los Angeles, Calif.

Brittny GodlewskiPrice Is Right LogoGodlewski, who is presently competing for FSU in the Cal-State Dominguez Hills Toro Classic being held Friday and Saturday (Sept. 3-4) in Carson, Calif., was among the contestants chosen to "Come On Down" and appear on stage in Thursday's advance taping of the show tentatively slated to air nationwide on CBS Television Monday, Nov. 15.

The 5-7 Godlewski attended the taping along with other members of the Bulldog volleyball team and was offered the opportunity to participate in the show. After making it to the stage, Godlewski missed a chance to win a trip to Acapulco during her initial game. However, after winning $1,000 spinning the "Big Wheel", Godlewski advanced to the "Showcase Showdown" where she overbid and was eliminated.

"Brittny was a great contestant and it was neat to see her do well," said FSU head coach Tia Brandel-Wilhelm, who previously requested tickets in order for the team to attend the taping. "Our entire team was in a great seating location and will get plenty of air time when the show is on."

The "Price Is Right", which is produced by CBS and Fremantle Media, is the longest running game show in television history. Hosted by Emmy-Award winning host and executive producer Bob Barker, the show first premiered in 1972 and will embark on its 33rd anniversary season this fall. The popular Barker has won 12 daytime Emmy Awards as the show's host and recently had CBS Television City's historic Stage 33, where the show is filmed, renamed the Bob Barker Studio in his honor.

Godlewski received the team’s Bulldog Award for the second consecutive campaign in 2003 after placing second among the squad's digs leaders with 315 total. She averaged 2.79 digs per game in 113 games last season and attained honorable mention All-GLIAC honors for the second straight year. Godlewski registered 10 digs or more in 16 outings a year ago, including a personal career-high 29 digs versus Gannon (Oct. 10).

Ferris State opened the 2004 campaign with a 4-0 mark in last weekend’s (Aug. 27-28) Ferris State Invitational at the Ewigleben Sports Arena in Big Rapids, Mich. The Bulldogs are slated to face Humboldt State (Calif.) and Cal-State Dominguez Hills at 3 p.m. (EDT) and 9 p.m. (EDT), respectively, in Friday's (Sept. 3) opening day of the Toro Classic before concluding play against Merrimack (Mass.) Saturday (Sept. 4) at 3 p.m. (EDT) in CSUDH's Torodome.

The "Price Is Right" airs locally Monday thru Friday at 11 a.m. (ET) on WWTV-TV 9&10 of Cadillac, Mich.
