MATT YORK FEATURE TO AIR MARCH 14 ON FSN DETROIT
Ferris State Hockey Player Part of FSN's NCAA On Campus Program
Ferris State University senior defenseman Matt York will be featured on FSN Detroit this Monday, March 14, as part of FSN's college sports magazine program NCAA On Campus.
The segment on York is scheduled to be broadcast at 3 p.m. (EST) this upcoming Monday (March 14).
NCAA On Campus is a monthly, 30-minute show hosted by Fox Sports Net's Patrick O'Neal and Sage Steele which features NCAA student-athletes and competitions from across the country.
The York was originally scheduled to air in February but was postponed due to a lack of video footage.
York, who graduated from Ferris State last May and is now working towards a master's degree in criminal justice at FSU, spent this last summer as a member of Ludington's (Mich.) Police Department while receiving his certification. York comes from a family involved in law enforcement as his father (Mike York) and older brother (Mike Jr.) are both police officers.  | Matt York will be showcased on FSN Detroit this Monday (March 14). |
York, the Bulldogs' team captain this season, currently leads all Ferris State defensemen with 18 points on one goal and 17 assists in 33 contests. He has a plus one efficiency rating to date this campaign to go along with one multiple-point game performance.
For his career, the 6-0, 183-pound defender has amassed 77 career points with 15 goals and 62 assists in 130 appearances. York is FSU's all-time penalty minutes leader with a 422 career total on 164 penalties. He has compiled seven power-play goals, two game-winning markers, 12 multi-point games and is +67 in his Bulldog career. Among Ferris State's all-time defensemen, York currently ranks seventh place in career assists and is tied for eighth place in points.
York earned All-Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) Rookie Team honors and was a co-recipient of FSU's Rookie of the Year Award during his freshman campaign in 2001-02 with 26 points in 34 outings. His season points total, which consisted of four goals and 22 assists, was third highest on the squad and tops among Bulldog defensemen. He followed up with 21 points (6-15--21) in 36 contests during his sophomore year (2002-03) and totaled 12 points (4-8--12) in 27 games a season ago.
York and his 2004-05 teammates will be in action this weekend (March 11-13), taking part in the opening round of the CCHA Tournament against the nationally-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes in Columbus, Ohio. The best-of-three series will be held at OSU's Value City Arena with the winner advancing to the CCHA Super 6 Championships (March 17-19) at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Mich.
