"FAMILY PACKAGE" PLANNED FOR FERRIS FOOTBALL GOLF OUTING

Special Activities Will Keep Kids Busy During The June 6 Golf Outing

FSU Golf Outing A special "family package" option is being planned for those interested in participating in the 26th annual Ferris State University Football Golf Outing, which will be held Saturday, June 6, at Meceola Golf Course near Big Rapids, Mich.

As part of the new family package, a number of activities and events are being planned for children and spouses in an effort to make the outing more accommodating and attractive to families looking for a weekend get-away.

The weekend will kick off with a reception for any family members on Friday (June 5) evening inside the Holiday Inn. While the annual golf outing takes place on Saturday, kids will be entertained through a variety of activities. A bus will provide transportation to the FSU Student Recreation Center on campus where the children will be able to swim, play basketball, compete in games or go rock climbing. Later in the day, current Bulldog football players will organize activities on the artificial-turf playing surface at Top Taggart Field, dinner will be held in the press box and a special movie will be shown back at the Holiday Inn during the evening hours.

All events for the kids will be supervised, which will enable spouses to also play golf, work out, take the afternoon off or spend time with the kids at the Student Recreation Center. The weekend will wrap up with a Players Association Meeting for former Bulldog football players on Sunday (June 7) morning.

The Holiday Inn in Big Rapids has also reserved a block of room for both Friday and Saturday (June 5-6) nights at a "Bulldog Package" rate of $75 per night (double occupancy).

Registrations are currently being accepted for the Ferris State University Football Golf Outing. The four-person double shotgun golf scramble, which is sponsored by the FSU Gridiron Club, serves as one of the Ferris State football program’s primary fundraising events. The afternoon shotgun start will be held on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The cost for this year’s event is $90 per player, which includes golf green fees, power cart, lunch during play, beer, soda and bottled water on the course, and a buffet style dinner. Women participants will be allowed to hit from the women's tees. A great package of team and individual prizes will be awarded.

For the 11th consecutive year, the “BIG DOG” package will also be available and features 18 holes of golf at the Meceola Golf Course, lunch and social hour followed by an additional 18 holes at prestigious St. Ives Golf Course in Stanwood, Mich. The dinner and social hour will be held back at the Meceola Golf Course. Cost for the “BIG DOG” package is $170 per participant for the 36 holes of golf.

Individuals are encouraged to submit their registration forms along with complete payment as soon as possible to guarantee participation in the football golf outing and aid in the planning. Checks may be made payable to Ferris State University Football.

For entry registration forms and additional information about this year's golf outing, please contact assistant coach Allen Curtiss at (231) 250-6141 or via e-mail at curtisa3@ferris.edu. Those participants who don't designate competing in a foursome will be placed in a foursome.
