Based on the latest information regarding a power outage, Ferris State University will cancel classes and close offices at 2 p.m. today (Friday, Sept. 30) on the Big Rapids campus. Consumers Energy has notified Ferris that, in order to repair an electrical feed to campus, all power to facilities will be shut off beginning at 2 p.m. today. Power is expected to be restored at approximately 5 p.m. Employees should turn off all of their computer equipment before leaving. Afternoon and evening shifts should report to work as normal. Residence halls and residential dining facilities will remain open, but all other campus facilities, including FLITE library, will be closed. The power outage will not affect the Holiday Inn and Conference Center or the Racquet Facility. Facilities closed this afternoon due to the outage will reopen as power is restored.
