American Welding Society President Visits Ferris

American Welding Society President Visits Ferris State UniversityFerris State University welcomed John Mendoza, president of the American Welding Society, to campus to showcase its welding programs and have him speak to students, faculty and staff in the College of Engineering Technology.

Mendoza was accompanied by his wife, Nora; Don DeCorte, AWS district director-at-large; and his wife, Patty, during the trip to Ferris. As part of the visit, Mendoza conducted a presentation on welding certification for approximately 125 Ferris welding students. At the conclusion of his presentation, the AWS president and his guests were taken on a tour of the university’s welding facilities.

Also present during Mendoza’s presentation were Fritz Erickson, Ferris’ provost and vice president for Academic Affairs, along with Dave Snider and Eric Young, members of the Welding Program Advisory Board.

Mendoza is the third AWS president to visit Ferris.
