The Ferris State University student organization You Beautiful Black Woman is set to present its second annual Comedy Jam on Friday, Sept. 30 beginning at 7 p.m. in Williams Auditorium with the doors scheduled to open at 6 p.m.
This year’s Comedy Jam is hosted by Bobby J and features Finesse Mitchell, Jay Phillips and Benji Brown. Last year, YBBW first hosted the Comedy Jam with a show headlined by Lil Duval. This year, event organizers are excited about what they hope will be an even stronger show at Ferris to follow up on the success of the initial Comedy Jam.
“This year’s show should be bigger and better,” said Joy Haley, president of the YBBW. “This is our version of Def Comedy Jam, with great comedians and good music for everyone.”
Haley noted that the previous success was inspiration to bring the Comedy Jam back.
“Last year’s show was successful with a great turnout and a very diverse crowd,” she said. “The comedians interacted well with the audience and we hope to have the same response this year.”
Tickets for the Comedy Jam are $5 for Ferris students and $10 for non-Ferris students. The tickets will be available at www.ferris.edu/arts or at the Rankin Student Center.
The show does have a “parental advisory” for explicit content.
The YBBW Second Annual Comedy Jam is funded by student activity fees as allocated by the Finance Division of Student Government, the Diversity and Inclusion Office and the Office of Multicultural Student Services.
