Ferris State University’s Career Services Fall 2011 Career Fair is approaching fast for students, alumni and anyone else interested in meeting future employers.
This fall’s fair, expected to feature 120 employers, is set for Thursday, Oct. 6 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. inside Wink Arena of the Ewigleben Sports Complex on the Ferris campus.
Angie Roman, coordinator of Career Services at Ferris, believes that the Fall 2011 Career Fair provides a platform for people to collect information about fields of interest and organizations, build networks of contacts, learn about post-graduate opportunities, discover information about full-time and part-time positions, and learn about internship possibilities.
“Students at all academic levels, alumni, faculty and staff should attend the Career Fair because there’s something for everyone,” Roman said.
Prior to the Career Fair, there will be employer information sessions on Oct. 5 from 4 to 10 p.m. in IRC. The sessions are for students in all academic levels in all majors. There will be free refreshments served at the sessions. The sessions provide opportunities to have one-on-one time with employers to better understand what they are interested in for their companies.
“The employer information sessions allow more time to interact with the employer,” Roman said. “It is designed to help people explore new career opportunities and learn more about an employer to prepare for an interview.”
Career Services has developed a Career Fair Student Preparation Guide that is being distributed around campus and in its Rankin Student Center office in Room 135. The office phone number is (231) 591-2685 and the email address is CareerServices@ferris.edu.
