Life on Campus - Sports
In athletics, Ferris State University's Bulldogs strive for competitive excellence in 14 NCAA Division II men's and women's sports and Division I men's ice hockey.
Our dedicated student-athletes proudly represent Ferris in our historic crimson and gold colors. Ferris student-athletes regularly achieve high-level academic success to complement what they accomplish as athletes. While we take pride in the athletic exploits of our outstanding student-athletes, we swell with even more pride as our student-athletes pursue a Ferris State University degree — a degree that paves the way toward a successful career beyond intercollegiate athletics.
Ferris offers men's varsity sports in basketball, cross country, football, golf, hockey, tennis and track and field. In women's sports, Ferris competes in basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, softball, tennis track and field and volleyball.
It's more than just a sport. It's an event. Our intercollegiate athletics events are enhanced by our loyal fans, support from the Big Rapids community, an enthusiastic pep band, high-energy cheerleaders, dance teams and others who help create an exciting atmosphere.
Club and Intramural Sports
Do you want to get off the sidelines and get in the game?
Maybe you're not quite ready to take your game to the intercollegiate level. But, opportunities for you are still plentiful at Ferris. Students who believe they have what it takes compete in club and intramural sports such as baseball, softball, flag football, rugby and lacrosse at Ferris. Club and intramural sports are fun and competitive for participants and a great way to meet new friends to build lifelong relationships.
Ferris has had highly-successful club teams that have earned statewide and national acclaim for their efforts.
