Foundation for Excellence Scholarship

The Ferris Foundation established the Foundation for Excellence Scholarship to assist first-year and upperclass students in their endeavor to achieve an education at Ferris State University. The Foundation for Excellence Scholarship has two award components: a first-year student, merit-based scholarship and an upperclassman, need-based scholarship.

To be eligible for the Foundation for Excellence First-Year Student Merit Scholarship, you must be a first-year student enrolled full-time in a program in one of the University’s degree-granting colleges; earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above; scored a minimum of 30 on the ACT; and must be enrolled in the Honors Program. Financial need is not a determining criterion for selection.

To be eligible for the Foundation for Excellence Upperclassman Scholarship, you must be of at least junior status and be enrolled full-time in a program in one of the University’s degree-granting colleges; earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above; submit a written essay highlighting your campus and community involvement and leadership; and attend an interview with the selection committee. Financial need is a determining criterion.

Selection of the recipient(s) and the scholarship award rests with the Offices of Scholarships and Financial Aid. The amount of the scholarship will be 25 percent of the value of full-time tuition and will be directly applied to the recipient’s University account. Neither scholarship is renewable.
