Foundation Board adds new director
Lt. Col. David W. Morris
The Ferris Foundation is pleased to announce the addition of Lieutenant Colonel David W. Morris to its Board of Directors.
Morris is a senior pilot with the Michigan Air National Guard in Battle Creek, Mich. He was activated for two wars, Operations Allied Force and Iraqi Freedom and overall has been on five contingency operations since 1994 and logged 74 combat sorties totaling over 220 hours. He also participated in Operation Deny Flight over Bosnia and Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.
A native of Michigan, Morris graduated from Fraser High School in 1983 and currently lives in Bellevue. He earned a bachelor's degree from Ferris State University in the spring of 1987. He then completed Squadron Officer School in January 1995, Air Command and Staff College in January 2000, United States Army Command and General Staff College in residence in June 2001 where he also received a master's in Military Art and Science and Air War College in January 2004.
His military decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal with five oak leaf clusters, Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Combat Readiness Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Armed Forces Service Medal with two bronze stars, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Kosovo Campaign Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with two "M" devices, and the NATO Medal.
Morris is married to his wife of 14 years, Erica (Mehlberg), who also graduated from Ferris in 1987 with a bachelor's degree in Accounting. He is the President of First Lutheran Church in Charlotte, Mich. and a member of the Board of Directors of the National Guard Association of Michigan. He also is a member of the Old Main donor society at Ferris State University.
