Hall of Fame inducts two construction professionals

Current and previous inductees of the Michigan Construction Hall of Fame
Two construction industry professionals were inducted into Ferris State University's Michigan Construction Hall of Fame during an Oct. 20 banquet and ceremony in Ferris' Granger Center for Construction and HVACR. The ceremony also marked the unveiling of the Hall of Fame's commemorative display in the center's atrium.
This year's inductees included Harry L. "Bud" Conrad Jr., formerly of Lansing, and William A. Hendrick Sr. of Saginaw.
At the helm of The Christman Company for nearly 25 years, Conrad left a legacy of creating opportunities for the next generation of construction managers, helping found the Michigan AGC summer internship program in 1964. Conrad also helped The Christman Company become a leader in helping pioneer the "construction management" method of service delivery in the Michigan construction industry in the mid-to-late 1970s.
Hendrick continued a family tradition through R.C. Hendrick and Son, Inc., one of Michigan's oldest family-owned and -operated construction companies, dedicating most of his life to the construction industry. Today, even after retirement, he remains an active part of the business which prides itself on dedication to quality, skill and integrity.
Michigan Construction Hall of Fame Distinguished Constructor Award recipients are selected by a committee of professionals representing the Associated Builders and Contractors, Associated General Contractors of America, Construction Association of Michigan, Michigan Infrastructure and Transportation Association, Michigan Association of Home Builders and Ferris State University's Construction Technology and Management department.
Selection criteria include achievement in technical, managerial and leadership areas, state or national prominence as a result of industry or community activities, and service to the profession and community.
The Michigan Construction Hall of Fame will serve as a permanent place for members of the construction industry to recognize and appreciate the endeavors of leaders of the Michigan construction industry. Off-campus visitors can access the Michigan Construction Hall of Fame at www.ferris.edu/mchof.
