Solid Ice Establishes Hockey Scholarship

Solid Ice, Inc., a non-profit organization formed in 1993 to help fund Bulldog hockey, has committed the grantable proceeds from its endowed fund within the Mecosta County Community Foundation to sustaining the Solid Ice Hockey Scholarship for full-time students in good academic standing who are dedicated to the success of the hockey program at Ferris State University.
Bob Hampson, president of Solid Ice, said he is pleased the Solid Ice Board of Directors chose to continue Solid Ice's continuing response to what Ferris Hockey identifies as its greatest need.
Hampson said he is "…proud that the local, grass-roots tradition of support of Bulldog hockey continues. With a history of support, from paying for a feasibility study for Ferris hockey, to funding half the cost of the Olympia ice resurfacer, to sharing the costs of many Bulldog hockey alumni events, to meeting the $200,000 pledge to help build the locker rooms and other student hockey player facilities, to this scholarship commitment, Solid Ice remains committed to helping preserve Bulldog hockey."
Bob Daniels, head coach for the varsity hockey team, is very grateful to Solid Ice and the individuals involved with ensuring Bulldog Hockey remains competitive in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association.
"The Ferris Hockey team is so appreciative of all that Solid Ice has done over the years to improve the hockey program and the arena," shared Daniels. "Their willingness to establish this scholarship means a great deal to not only me, but to our student-athletes as well."
