1. How is the confidentiality of a student's records/status maintained by Disabilities Service?
Specific information regarding a student's disability is kept confidential and is released only when there is a current signed Student Release of Information form on file or as otherwise permitted or required by law.
2. How long is disability documentation kept by Disabilities Services?
Student documentation for non-enrolled students is kept in Disabilities Services for up to five years.
3. Are the admission standards modified for students with disabilities?
No, students with disabilities must meet the same admission and program requirements as all other students.
4. Is there a fee for Disabilities Services?
Students are not charged a fee for Disabilities Services.
5. Who does a student contact regarding his/her disability?
The student should contact Disabilities Services located in Starr 313, (231) 591-5039.
6. Does Disabilities Services advocate for students?
Yes, Disabilities Services advocates for students registered with that office who feel they are experiencing discrimination because of their disability.
7. After my intake interview, will I automatically receive services each semester?
No, you must renew your request each semester by making a Service Request Appointment (SRA).
