  • 2000 - Established the Peer Mentor Program for approximately 25 University College students.

  • 2003 - Established Midnight Madness event to allow students to engage in family-oriented activities as a stress relief after midterm exams.
  • 2003 - Implemented the use of WebCT (now Ferris Connect) to enhance communication efforts of peer mentor participants with the SCHOLAR community.
  • 2004 - Provided mentoring services to over 150 new Ferris and transfer students.
  • 2005 - Implemented Bulldog Prevention Week activities to increase the awareness of drugs and alcohol.
  • 2005 - Recipient of Michigan's Network Prevention - Model Prevention Program Award.
  • 2006 - Co-sponsored a campus wide event "Mix It Up" to fight hate and promote tolerance.
  • 2007 - Established an initiative to support eligible "Tuition Incentive Program" (TIP) students.

 

Mission Statement

The mission of the University College, Peer Mentor Program is to serve as an integral part of the University to promote the improvement of academic success, persistence and successful graduation of students participating in the program.
