  • 1997 - Helen Ferris Hall opened its doors to 133 students enrolled in the new Honors Program.
  • 1998 - Honors expanded to 253 students who were housed in Helen Ferris and Carlisle halls.
  • 2002 - Two floors of Henderson Hall (HEN) were added to house Honors students. The total HP population off and on campus expanded to 384 students.
  • 2003 - Honors students occupied all the floors of HFE, CAR and HEN halls; the total HP population increased to 465 students.
  • 2006 - The terrace floor of Puterbaugh Hall (PUT) was added to Honors. HP population expanded to 539 students.
  • 2007 - Honors continued to expand into Puterbaugh Hall with total enrollment expected to exceed 600 students.

 

10-Year Statistics (1997-2007):

  • Service Hours (1997-2007): 115,495
  • Retention Rate to Honors: 75% return as sophomores
  • Retention Rate to Ferris: 92% return as sophomores
  • Retention Rate to Ferris: 80% are still enrolled in the 4th year

Mission Statement

The mission of the Honors Program at Ferris State University is to provide intellectual challenges, resource opportunities and support to highly able and motivated students, while encouraging service and leadership for the public good.
