Textbooks & Financial Aid Q&A

The portion of your financial aid award designated for textbooks will be deposited directly into the bank account of your choice. Following is some information to help explain how this will work.

You must have entered your bank account information into Student Web Services at least 10 days prior to the beginning of the semester in order for the money to be deposited in your account.

Q. How much money will I receive in my account?
A. The maximum amount of financial aid funds deposited into your personal bank account for use in purchasing textbooks will be $300. However, if after paying your tuition bill there is not $300 remaining, you will only receive the actual remaining balance.

Q. When will the money be deposited in my account?
A. Funds will be transferred to student personal bank account by the Friday before start of the semester. Check your bank account to verify.

Q. What if I don't have a personal bank account for the money to be deposited into?
A. You need to set up a bank account - either checking or savings.

Q. Does it matter what bank I have my personal account in?
A. No, it can be any bank. If you have a Huntington Student Access Checking Account, you should be all set. If it is a different bank, you will need to provide Ferris with your account and routing numbers.

Q. How does the Huntington Student Access Account Benefit the Off-Campus Student?
A. In addition to having direct access to financial aid funds if you are a financial aid recipient, you'll have the ability to make point-of-sale purchases at off-campus merchants, such as Wal-Mart, Kmart, Walgreen's and many others. Also, you'll have access to your money through thousands of ATM's across the nation which display the MAC, MoneyStation and CIRRUS logos.

Q. How can I start a Huntington Student Access Account?
A. You may open your Huntington Student Access Checking Account at any Huntington Bank Office or by calling 1-800-480-BANK (2265). To be eligible for this account, you must be a student actively enrolled at Ferris with a student ID. You will need to provide the number on your student ID in order for the Student Access Account to be set up. It will be the long number on your ID that begins with 5006.

Q. How do I submit my personal bank account information for a Non-Huntington Direct Deposit?
A. Go to the Ferris homepage and follow these steps:

  • Log into MyFSU.
  • Click on MySERVICES tab.
  • Quick Click to Student Services.
  • Under Student Records, click on Bank Account Information.
  • Enter your 9-digit routing number and your account number and specify whether it is a checking or savings account. These are found on the bottom of your check. The first series of numbers is your routing number. The second series is your account number. Please make sure they are correct as wrong information will reject the deposit.

Q. Do I need to have my financial aid funds deposited into my personal bank account before I can order my books?
A. No. If you have the funds available in another account or through a credit card, you can order your books prior to the financial aid funds being deposited into your account.

Q. Do I have to order my own books?
A. Yes, it is up to you to call, go online, or send your order to MBS direct at http://direct.mbsbooks.com/ferrisst.htm.

Q. Can I still get my books with a MBS Textbook voucher?
A. No, Ferris will no longer use the MBS voucher system for purchasing student textbooks.
