Coursework is designed to provide an understanding of criminal justice, while allowing you to obtain special work-related skills that will open opportunities in a variety of criminal justice agencies, or pursue the Bachelor of Science degree with the intent of pursuing further graduate or professional studies. Basic Admission Requirements
To be admitted to this program you must have an associate's degree (or be working toward one) and have completed 56 credit hours from an accredited college or university. An overall 2.0 cumulative grade point average is required, and you'll need to submit official transcripts from all accredited colleges/universities with your application.
As the health care industry continues to grow and expand, the demand for medical record administrators also increases. Employment is expected to grow faster than average through the year 2010 because of rapid changes in health care regulations that require individuals skilled in the interpretation of health data. Many graduates of this program are employed in hospitals, but job growth is projected to be greatest in physicians' offices and clinics, nursing homes and home health agencies. This program also allows students who have work experience in health information to take challenge examinations to earn credit for courses in the curriculum. Students who have begun the Independent Study Program sponsored by the American Health Information Management Association, and have passed modules with a 73% or better, could be granted college credit for those modules. At the end of the program, you will be eligible to apply to write the national certification examination to earn the designation of Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA). Basic Admission Requirements: Students who graduated from an accredited Medical Records or Health Information associate degree program with a cumulative grade point average of not less than a 2.50 on a 4.00 scale are eligible to apply.
