The MS-ISM is the choice for individuals interested in acquiring skills to
enter the information technology profession or current professionals interested
in reengineering their knowledge and skill set. The MS-ISM program focuses
on the concepts and skills for effective leadership and includes concentration
choices in emerging areas such as outsourcing management and several technical
areas with growing career potential. Note: This program is delivered in a mixed
format meaning that roughly half of the instruction is online and half in the
classroom.
The purpose of this certificate is to provide a theoretical and practical foundation in nursing education for nurses who wish to assume the role of nursing faculty in an associate or baccalaureate degree nursing program. This certificate will provide the opportunity to acquire some of the basic skills utilized by the nurse educator.
This certificate can be valuable to BSN prepared nurses who may be teaching in a community college setting by exception (faculty hired without required credentials due to lack of availability of qualified faculty) and desire career mobility to attain a faculty position in that same setting.
The certificate also can serve as the first step toward the proposed MSN degree, thus providing a ladder into graduate programming for BSN nurses.
Ferris State University offers an RN
to BSN program designed to give you options from day one. As you work toward
your degree, you'll choose the class location that best suits your needs, with
one day or evening a week schedules. Once you've earned your BSN, you'll be
able to choose from a variety of career paths, including enhanced patient care,
nursing management, staff development, education, lab research and administration.
Your education is designed to enhance your skills in such areas as family health,
community health and special populations health. Upon entering the BSN program,
you'll work with a cohort group through the entire program. With groups throughout
the state, you'll be sure to find one that's close to you.
Basic admission requirements: Ferris' BSN program is designed for associate
degree and diploma RNs who want to further their educational growth and development
and builds upon prior learning. To be eligible for the BSN program, applicants
must hold a Michigan registered nurse license. Prospective students must have
a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 in the basic nursing program (ADN or
diploma) and in each of the biological and physical sciences.
This program is designed to provide a curriculum that prepares nurses with
the knowledge and skills needed for a variety of advanced specialty roles.
The 36 credit program is comprised of three components: a basic set of nursing
core courses for 12 credits, a specialized advanced leadership role concentration
for an additional 12 credits and the final 12 credits which include the practicum
and scholarly project.
In the discipline of nursing, clinical specialization occurs academically at
the graduate level.
The MSN program, with specialty concentration options for
advanced leadership roles provides educational opportunities for BSN prepared
nurses who desire such a role. This degree
is intended to build upon a basic generic BSN degree and provides
the student with three specialty concentration options. The advanced specialty
role concentrations all support career mobility options that are in
very high demand within the discipline of nursing at the present time. These
focused advanced specialty role options include: nursing education, nursing
administration, and nursing informatics.
The MSN program is designed to meet the needs of BSN nurses who want to further
their educational growth and development in an accessible program and schedule
that accommodates the busy lives of working adults.
