Adjunct Faculty Applications

The University Center for Extended Learning has teaching opportunities for adjunct faculty in a variety of academic programs. Follow this link for a list of programs of instruction. Adjunct faculty are hired on a semester-by-semester basis to teach at our Michigan locations statewide. Follow this link for a list of all locations.

In general, instructors for Ferris should have five years of work experience in the area they are instructing, a master's degree in a related field (many programs require a doctorate in a related field), and teaching experience.

If you are interested in seeking adjunct faculty status with Ferris State University, you must submit the following application materials:

  1. Letter of application listing the classes you feel qualified to teach and your preferred teaching location(s).
  2. Current resume
  3. Official transcript for highest degree earned
  4. Ferris State University employment application found on the Ferris website.
  5. Three (3) current letters of recommendation.

Teacher Education instructors applying to teach in Education programs must also complete and return the Adjunct Faculty Application School of Education form.

Forward all materials to the preferred regional teaching site:

Upon approval, you will be sent a letter notifying you of the courses you have been approved to teach. When a teaching opportunity arises in the region you have selected, you may be contacted regarding your availability.

Occasionally, part-time faculty may be asked to teach a class and subsequently, a full-time faculty member from the academic department will choose to teach the class. Ferris' faculty contract allows the full-time contracted faculty the option of teaching classes that are delivered at our off-campus locations. On the rare occasions when a full-time contracted Ferris faculty chooses this option, s/he will be contracted to teach the class in lieu of the adjunct.

Ferris is proud of its cadre of professionals who teach at our sites throughout Michigan. They bring current expertise in their disciplines and fresh perspectives. We invite you to join our team.
